Gas pipe replacement

Hi there all
I am going to get my gas pipe replaced as half of it is lead and old.
When I work on my kitchen extension the existing floor will be dug out which is a quary tile and soil.
Can a gas pipe be laid in the floor and come up to the boiler?
Does the pipe have to be one piece or can it T underground?

It can run in underground in the floor. Needs protection against any concrete.

It also needs to be fitted by a gas safe reg engineer who will know how to protect it en route.
