Recently had a new boiler installed (10 days ago) Ideal logic 2 30kw.

A pre-installation survery was done apparently.

Guy mentioned once it was installed and he was doing final tests that there was an issue with the pressure, between the meter and the boiler.

pressure with nothing on - 23mbar
pressure with the tap running - 20mbar
pressure at the boiler - 14.5mbar

and done a gas test, which was sitting 18.87kw, should have been closer to 27kw.

He reckons there is possibly to many 90 degree bends in the pipe and that the pipe may need replacing, question is, who should be responsible for this?

I didn't sign the work off as being complete and they are sending somebody out to look at it.

who should be responsible for this
If it is genuine additional work then probably you.

On the other hand it should have been checked on the initial survey and they should have made you aware at the time. Could come down to what the quote says.

See what they say when they attend.

Was this a Combi swap or did you have a different type of boiler installed? Do you know what the gas pipe size from the meter to the boiler is? If It’s not performing as it should, and providing you haven’t refused any pipe upgrade then the issue might be with the installer, but it’s difficult for us to suggest who is responsible without knowing certain information/facts.

Sounds like whoever did the survey was a salesperson box ticker.
As above, if your old boiler was heat only then likely the gas pipe from the meter is undersized. What exactly did they quote you for? (The front page probably says everything included, pages 2 3 and 4 will then list everything not included) :)

Whose responsibility it is will ultimately come down to the wording of the quotation/estimate, and the T&C's provided. Were they the cheapest price by any chance?

Thanks for the responses.

The boiler in place was a combi, 19 years old though, we got a regular service on it and the heat plate I believe had cracked and a danger do not use sticker was stuck on it, paid £2600 for the boiler and install, with the danger stick though we didn't shop around and went ahead with the work.

The gas pipe from the boiler is 22mm.

The main concern is the size of job it is to put right, and the potential cost. first time home owner, and it sounds expensive.

Depending where you are, budget £50 per metre. Lot depends on where the meter is in relation to the boiler- is there an easy fairly straight run or is it a nightmare.
You have to read the contract you signed. Is this a national company you are dealing with or a local firm.
Whichever, as it stands they've left you with a non-compliant installation so they have to be your first port of call.

Amazing isn't it, couple of thousand pounds for a day's work.....they know how to charge.

Yes it’s amazing the cost of a boiler and materials these days. We don’t know how much was paid for the boiler, flue, thermostat, fittings or Labour - a bit unfair to judge really.

I've seen those quotes for a £500 heat only boiler to be fitted as a direct replacement, everything in place and ready. It's well known they bang a few grand on for a days work.

In terms of run, with it being under the house I have no idea. It doesn't look too complicated, but that is without knowing the state of play under the flooring.
24/7 home rescue it was that supplied and installed.

You should be able to find the diameter from where it goes in and out of the floor, and that's the most important thing. Shouldn't be too hard to estimate the total length and guess number of bends etc.
It doesn't sound like the installers did a thorough job.
If it's 14.5mb at 18.75kW it's got no chance at 27 or 30kW.
