Gas Regs in France?

Greetings learned comrades,

I recently had cause to visit a friend's house in the south of France (colder than here!). As luck would have it the boiler packed up, and as I was the last one stood next to it I got the job of fixing it. (Usual Honeywell double solenoid failure on a VK4105 valve)

My question is does my CORGI membership and competances registered in the UK have any relevance over there? Is what I did illegal ? What will I have to do to be able to work legally there?

And can I go and be a chef in Poland as they're all over here as Gas fitters?

Page 3 on http://www.hse.gov.uk/consult/condocs/mawer.pdf kind of helps. It appears that you can do it, albeit CORGI isn't recognised in France, but you just have to get thiird party sigh off.

Not sure if this truly answers it.
