Can anyone tell me how to test the gas valve / solenoid on an Ariston Euro combi boiler and if voltage / resistance needs checking what ball park readings wopuld indicate a defective part?

Yes if you email CORGI number and model of boiler. Quite a few Eurocombies!

...CH Boiler solenoids and gas valves invariably operate on 24v from the igniter PCB . It will probably give you the ratings on a label on the solenoid
What a load of tosh.

You are unlikely to get any accurate info ( from a RGI ) here, very few of us are willing to give safety critical information.

well if you are only prepared to give advice to other gas safety registered fitters what is the point of this site and you posting here at all ?

Is it perhaps to boast to each other about your conquests ? or just slag off enquirers asking for help ?

Why don't you try post something that is constructive and helpful for once instead of just throwing your cyber weight around ?

The problem with you people is you are ignorant. Ignorant of the law . If you bothered to read the applicable law to gas safety in the UK you would know that DIY gas work is quite acceptable providing the person is competant.

But the Law doesn't apply to people like you does it? You just mis- interpret the law to suit yourself so that you can excercise your miserable little bit of power over DIY enquirers .

Chances are you are not even registered yourself and almost certainly unable to answer the query satisfactorily.

To give advice on things that are safe to work on.

competant.
If your diy skills are as good as your spelling, your mommy should take away your toolbox.
