I asked not so long back about my gas dryer getting fitted, mainly, do i need a 5" exhaust to go with my 4" tube, and was told,(can't actually find it) the post, to get a fitter as the question i asked, probarbly reflected my knowledge on the subject, that was not the case, i went and got a 4" exhaust, was told i need a five" so, got a refund, plumber turns up with same 4" and fits it, soon to get signed off, is this right

5" exhaust= flue through wall (ok, not a flue)

4" pipe= tube/flexie, from dryer to exhaust

You was given good advice from the regulars and chose to ignor it.

If someone gets killed as a result it is your problem and yours alone.

i don't understand what you saying, i was told to leave it to the proffesionals, which i did do, so what have i done wrong?

the vent pipe is not a exaust,if correctly installed the fitter will have followed manaf inst ,this includes correct ventilation. the tube is as all dryers to help clear condensation

I'm obviously not explaining myself proper, sorry about that, my fault, i'll try it another way

fitter A turns up says," that four inch vent pipe that goes through the wall that you have bought, is too small, you need a five inch vent, whilst i'm here, i shall cut a hole in your wall to accept a five inch vent" which he did, then went home

fitter B turns up the next day with a 4 inch vent and fits it, he cannot commission it as he is not corgi, all i want to know off you guys, who is right, A or B ? I know i will find out eventually when (eventually) the corgi bloke turns up, i am only asking for my own information.thanks, hope i made this clearer

The man who gassed it up, yes, the man who also said 5 inch, same person, yes, the man who fitted the "vent" from the same firm, no, the man who is going to pass it, from the same firm, yes,(when he gets here.

What does it say in the manufacturers instructions because that is what counts.

Correct you don't need manufacturers instructions.

The Corgi However does and they are the bible, without them he cannot install the appliance, and yes you have to pay for him to read and inwardly digest the instructions.

Asking questions like should it be 4" or 5", it should be whatever it says in the manufacturers instruction manual, if the guy can't read English he shouldn't be installing, that also applies if the manual is missing.
