Hi

I am trying to figure out how to get a lacquer finish on some sapele skirting that I have just purchased from a saw mill. I have stained the skirting with 2 coats of colron red mahogany wood stain. What I'm struggling to figure out is which product to use (and how to apply) in order to get the skirting to as closely as possible match the finish on the existing hardwood floor. The floor is a mix of redwoods (sapele, cherry etc) and has your typical factory finished smooth glossy lacquer look.

I have been recommended this product

but I'm not entirely sure that's what I'm after.

I have about 20 metres of skirting in total to do. I would rather avoid having to hire a sprayer but if is the only way to go then I will look into it.

I'm based in Glasgow

Hi Tony,

So many options. For that factory finish there's no doubt you want to spray on something like AC2 Lacquer. However brush applying a waterbased lacquer such as Aquacoat SP will also come quite near too.

Have you tried this company ? Open tomorrow so just pop in and speak to Drew he'll be more that happy to run through the various options.

Hope this helps
