Getting the floor up

I need to get under the floor boards in an upstairs bedroom, thing is they're not floorboards but large sheets of chipboard that have been nailed down.

The sheets are huge and I only want to remove a channel about 300mm. Which means I need to cut the chipboard along the line of the floor joist, once complete I can replace the chipboard and nail it into the joist.

How can I cut the board along the centre line of the joist?

A jig saw, hand saw or circular saw. Probably a keyhole saw is the best if only a small length to cut, its the safest.
You need to make certain there are no wires & pipes in the way.

You need to cut just along the edge of the joist , lift the board and then screw a piece of 2x1 or anything to the joist to reattach the board.
(You cannot just cut along the middle of the joist.)

Of course I will cut along the side of the joist and then attach another joist as you say.

So simple when you know how - just couldn't get my brain around that one.
