Glaze for paper

I have seen mention of a protective glaze that can be used for people who like to paper their room with old maps, share certificates or £50 notes.

I am thinking of putting a poster on a door and glazing it to protect the surface.

What would be a suitable material? It would be splashed with water sometimes.
