Global Warming

Global warming is a huge gravy train.

The media love a disaster, or an impending disaster.

Look at some of the stuff that was going to get us.

SARS was going to be a worldwide epedemic

Bird Flu the same

Y2K was going to see planes falling from the sky and economic failure.

Rabies was coming to the UK from France and packs of dogs foaming at the mouth were to be roaming the streets.

BSE

Why should we assume global warming is any different.

If we have lost so much of the polar ice why hasn't the sea level risen ?

Because it is sea ice being lost. Ice that is floating on the sea is already displacing water so makes little difference to the water level when it melts. Apparently the fixed ice of the Greenland ice shelf contains enough water to raise global sea levels by 7 metres.

Back to the OP, the area of ice coverage being equal to 1979 levels means nothing in isolation, the thickness is much less than normal and the total volume is still in decline.
 
It seems we still have no link to the source data that gossip website refers to

so we are just talking about an unsubstantiated rumour.
 
What these global warming alarmists seem to forget is basic science.

CO2 is a trace gas, please, just refer to your O-Level Chemistry text book before you start blaming Land Rover drivers for destroying the planet.

The stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones, the oil age won't end because we'll run out of oil.

The sahara desert was once reckoned to be a green area 100,000 years ago so global warming which is probaly a natural occurence is a evolutionary part of planet earth.North America is having one of its coldest spells for years,the alps are enjoying good snow conditions has they have been for years,Moscow is below freezing has it was when Napolean and then Hitler tried to invade Russia so where is the general trend towards higher temps in these regions.

Fact - the Earth has been heating up and cooling down for the past four and a half billion years.

Anything us puny humans have accomplished in the last 100 years is totally irrelevant on even the shortest of geological or even zoological scales.

How long were dinosaurs tramping about filling the atmosphere with dino-farts? I'll tell you, 200 million.

If we took every car, van and truck off the road in the UK for a year it would be the equivalent to the to removing the CO2 output of the USA for eight hours. Not worth bothering with.

Please, do the sums before you start bleating on about "climate change".

Level of sea ice is the same as 30 years ago. Fact. You have read the factual reports and your failing to provide a credible argument other than the usual 'is this a credible report?'

You dont want to belive it, and you wont as your rail-roaded into the media hype that is 'global warming'.

America is suffering an awful winter, Moscow is enjoying a few mild years. Us here in the UK are having our coldest winter (average daytime temps) since 1991.

Just accept climate change is much bigger than mans creations and we cannot control it.

What don't I understand? A given area of water may be covered by ice but the thickness of the ice and therefore the mass or volume of the ice cover is a variable.
 
We have some very clever university blokes wondering about here with clip boards doing research on coastal erosion, they come into ours sometimes for coffee, and was talking about "net sand loss" well! I told them that the sand comes and goes depending on winds and tides etc, anyway! now they've found that all the sand that had disappeared a couple of months ago has come back, 6ft deep on the foreshore, yep! I said, that's how it goes, well now I'm waiting for them to come in when all that sand disappears again next time we have a big spring tide with a sou'westerly gale, its bound to be attributed to global warming!!!
