Not painted doors and skirting for many years , and want to find the best low odour paint possible (other half has very sensitive disposition to almost any paint, let alone a 'gloss' or similar)

Can anyone give me a recommendation for the best low odour indoor wood paint please?

Thanks in advance

And any tips for speeding up the removal of the smell (years ago, I used to cut an onion half and leave it in the room - I don't know if it helped)

Anything water based has much less odour. Dulux Diamond Quick Drying gloss or satinwood are widely used. Gloss is unusual nowadays on trim, satinwood is the standard.

BTW when painting over old oil based gloss paint (white) with a new water based 'gloss', what kind of preparation is required? Just sand it and paint ? Or undercoat first? There's quite a few chips out of the wood surfaces
If so, what grade sandpaper and what undercoat will work best?
