What's the concensus for painting woodwork, when i quote for a job i quote for one coat primer/undercoat and two coats gloss or satinwood, the problem is depending on how much wood work there is its going to be at least 2 days for glossing as its 16-18 hours drying time.

do you undercoat previously painted woodwork?
do you do one coat undercoat and one gloss?
or do you do one coat undercoat and two coats gloss?

Eggshell two coats as its self undercoating

Satin same as above

Gloss one u/c one top coat, i always u/c previously painted gloss

More useful is using an acrylic u/c and oil gloss as both can be applied same day

Try acrylic satins and eggshells for the same reasons, there's plenty of info on here about the ones which work best they do occasionally need a third coat and if covering strong colours your better using coverstain or similar as your u/c, its also useful as a binding coat between old oil based coatings and acrylic.
