does a glow worm swiftflow gas combi boiler have an automatic by pass valve fitted as I can not find any specs on the net

No not on the boiler.

if fitting trv's to five out of six rads will i need to fit bypass valve

If it was a new boiler installatioen the regs say yes!

As its an old installation then you dont have to as long as you can be assured that the one rad with no TRV will never be turned off!
