Glowworm Fuelsaver 40B Mk2 pipes moving AND banging

Just moved into our new home. Turned on the boiler after 30 minutes of trying to get the pilot light to stay on. As soon as i dialled up 1 on the control knob the pipes coming out of the top started to moved and bang violently. They also got very hot very quickly.

Q) duff pump of air lock?

If it is an air lock, how do I rectify?

Any help is appreciated.

check theres any water in the header tank in the loft

that's not something that crossed my mind. will do at the weekend.

Check the system has water in it and not been drained out.

Then check the pump
