glueing and screwing battens to joists

Hi there have to glue and screw 38 x50 mm battens to top of existing joists which are 110 x38mm I am using no10 100mm woodscrews (quicksilver twinthreads ) @ 400mm c/c as specified .Q? What glue do I use ?

Agree with renovator, used the original equivalent, cascamite, on a snooker cue, it was the only part that never broke again ( I was a bad player !!!).

Cascamite, the very word drives fear into a friend of mine.
Whilst at Art college in 1981 we designed and built chairs.
During an evening class some "real joiners" took exception to his dreadlocks, gaffer taped him to his own chair and cascamited his hair.
As you will appreciate, he was somewhat unhappy especially when he had to cut out the chunks :)
