I have been approached by a mate who is in charge of maintenance at a local hospital, He has said that they have approx 150 steet lamps with SON 70watts lamps and wants to make them greener, he dosnt want to replace the lamps or turn circuits off to conserve energy, is there a led option for this kind of thing?

No, and 70w son for a 'street light' is actually fairly small.

SONS by their nature are already energy efficient in that they give a huge amount of light per watt compared to other sources.

You may be able to replace the ballast and igniter control gear with suitable electronic control gear.

you will need to consult makers as it depends on distance from control gear to the lamp, etc

Electronic control gear is quite crap to be honest the amount of failed units ive had is unbelivable, Install a lantern one week then back the next on a return visit to replace the ballast.
