I have had a 'contract' for repairs via homeserve on my Glow worm combi boiler.

The boiler is 30ci model.

The house is my Grandmothers. I am caretaking the house while she is in care home and soon to be hospice.

I have been told that build quality isnt its strongest as they were made/sold when Glowworm were going through new owners and cheap parts and assembly. I have no idea is this is true by the way.

Now this is my present situation:
There is a black plastic valve to the rear and left of the gas valve/thingy.
This black plastic valve looks to connect to the heat exchanger.
The casing on this black plastic valve has split and I have a constant mist of water over the electrics accompanied by a continually drip.

A rather abrupt, patronising and rude 'lady' at the Glowworm/valiant/homeserve call centre has arranged a fitter for some time thursday. She cant do any better so she says.

Where do I stand about a thorough replacement as every 6 weeks another part fails. Usually a combination of failed PRV, Filling Loop and an electric valve or two.

I look forward to your replies.

Hello and thank you for your help.

Tursday hascome and gone but you have not advised of the outcome.

Splitting plastic bits is a feature of that model.

As you have a contract then just ensure you keep it going and they repair it eevery time.

Last Christmas Eve, I went by mistake to one of them which the contractors had been to see but refused to return to until after the new year.

Well the engineer arrived.

Replaced the broken valve body.

This valve has been upgraded to more metal parts.

Depending on what the engineer and his supervisor 'diagnose' there's a chance a replacement boiler may be the cheaper option against continual repairs.
