Our Potterton Powermax 155x has been relatively trouble free for nearly ten years, but I am wanting to start thinking about replacing it - hopefully for a more reliable type!! (I suspect it is becoming furred-up as filling a bath is getting painfully slow).

We have two bathrooms, one with a bath and it is a four bedroom house. I guess that's why the 155x, with its big heat store was specified originally.

My question is - would I need a similar type of boiler as a replacement, or would a more conventional combi boiler be suitable?

Is there anywhere I can find reviews of boilers, or perhaps tests by people like 'Which' to see what makes/types tend to be more reliable or trouble-free? Or are all makes pretty much of a muchness??

Any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated!

Tks :)

I would always recommend an unvented cylinder and heat only boiler in your case. But that will need checking the mains water flow rate is adequate.

There are still some storage boilers and the Viessmann 222 is probably the best known by those who want better quality boiler.

The Which report primarily lists boilers which pay to be included!
