Hello,

Apologies for anyone if this is a question that has been asked many times before, but I can't find anything that is exactly the same as mine.

I am attempting to install a Google Nest E to replace a Honeywell BDR91 for which the wiring is shown below:

I understand that as the Nest E has its own battery supply, then the N and L wires should be inserted into the terminating blocks. A and B in this case should be inserted into the C and NO, respectively.
However, the A wire above seems to be linked via the L terminal - does this mean that I should use the original L wire and insert that into the Nest C instead?

Many thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

Correct. Sounds like you have figured it. Nest-e doesn't need N&L as it's battery operated. However the wires that are in N and L need to remain connected exactly as they are now, including the loop to A. So, you will need a couple of screw connectors to put them in.

Then:
Wire in A goes to Nest-e C (Common)
Wire in B goes to Nest-e NO (Normally Open)

Or:
Alternatively for the wires in L. Get rid of the loop and put both of the remaining brown wires in 'C'

Electrically either achieves exactly the same so, whichever is easiest for you.
