I had a granite hearth and riser fitted 18 months ago and a crack has now appeared along the centre of both. I have an electric fire used occasionally so it cannot be from heat. The hearth sits directly on the concrete floor and is not bedded in. Can anybody offer any expert advice on the fitting of granite hearths e.g. should it have been bedded in? Thanks for any help.
