Hi
  • We are having a slightly issue with our Combi boiler at the moment, The hot water is working fine however the central heating isn't. It looks as though the CH light isn't lit however the demand light is. Through looking at the manual for the boiler it states I need to check the non-return valve however I'm not sure how to do this? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated :)

Do you mean the demand light on the programmer and the CH light on the boiler?
The non return valve is not something you want to be messing with. It requires drain down and disassembly of pipework, but would have no influence on any lights. A controls problem is most likely.

Why would you turn the heating on in fookin July ??

Try turning Room stat up.

Elderly people like heat. My Dad fires up the stove almost every day in july. When the room is about 28c he feels comfortable.
The room stat for the boiler is set @30c.

How does he cope in winter.
Systems are not designed to provide such temperatures.

Same temp in winter.
He can run the oil boiler also as well as the solid fuel.

We were testing pipes as took a rad off and wanted to make sure there was no leaks. Yes it's the ch pump light at the top where the controls are. Do we need a plumber then?

The heating pump light is on ??
Can you feel or hear the pump running?
Is there pressure in system.

Yes pressure is ok,hot water works ok. Heating worked ok about a month ago. Can't hear pump when put heating on as boiler doesn't fire up

Heating pump is under the boiler lid behind controls.... is it making a noise.

FFS I'm not fookin psychic...........Maybe you should phone whoever services it .

Whether the burner fires or not, the ch pump will still run. Best guess is that you have an airlock in heating circs and the burner does not fire because the hw already has the boiler up to temperature, but as Terry says, we are not phsycic.

Thanks for your help, my waters have literally just broke today so will get plumber out when baby is here
