Hi all,

Recently moved house, the back garden was a right mess, we have managed to get it looking half decent but there are 2 trees, the grass hasnt grown under either, one was so bad we ended up putting some gravel on it. The other thoug I'd like to have grass there, the tree is in the corner of the lawn by the fence, it seems as if there was once grass there but now theres just soil with the odd bit of yellow grass. Any advice welcome

Thanks

you will struggle getting grass to grow well under trees due to the shade they give. This means that the grass can be overtaken by shade lovers such as moss which deprive it of the food etc. You can however buy a shade tolerant grass but it is expensive.

What kind of tree, and, how wide is the canopy, and, how high is the trunk before the canopy starts?
