I have just finished decorating a new extension and seem to have a problem with a "green dust" forming on the newly painted white skirting board!
It forms in small patches and looks awful!
Fortunately it is dry and wipes off with a dry duster. The skirting is MDF, has been primed, undercoated and finished with Dulux Trade Eggshell. The rooms are dry and there is no evidence of "mould" anywhere.
Has anyone got any ideas
a) What the "green dust" may be?
b) What may be causing it?
c) How might I stop it forming?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Paul

No idea at this time what is causing this to happen, was this problem evident before you painted the skirts or only after.

A pic might help to identify the problem, but in the meantime, is it possible that it could be dust from fibreboard underlay working it's way out from beneath a laminate floor?

Thanks, a pic is a good idea. Will do. No fibreboard underlay in property.
I've just re-painted much of the skirting to see if this will remove the problem"! At the same time I wiped all current traces away! Paul

Seeing as you have re-painted them if they return post a pic so we can take a look, must admit though it does sound rather strange.

Was the MDF moisture resistant, ie the slightly green stuff?
