You are cofused to what happens when setting the valves to manual does, this merely opens the valve manually to allow the system to be filles, when a system is working properly the valve opens electrically and moves past the manual point and then activates a micro-switch, this in turn fires the boiler and pump, setting tha valve to Man will not bring the boiler on
