Greenstar HE plus boiler - Hot water

I have a Greenstar HE boiler and am trying to set it up for Hot Water but the terminology confuses me. Apart from the comfort setting which allows you to have hot water instantly or not, the timer settings are called 'blocked' and 'released'. What do these terms mean?

Is it that for any 'blocked' period the hot water is effectively disabled? If so presumably you would only set this for overnight?

It is not worth bothering with the preheat; set the boiler on "eco" and you will be fine.
