Can you have grooved battens?
The roof tiles manufacturers call for counter battens on shallow pitch (defined as anything below 22°). This is very time consuming (my rafters at 300c at most) and expensive in labour and materials.
I was thinking, we can let the membrane a bit "loose", but my roofer said it must be taut. I then proposed we stick plastic inserts under the battens, right in between rafters, to allow a gap for the water to run off, but it is too much hassle.
I just watched a US video (
) which in the first 30 seconds describes precisely the problem and the solution/idea of plastic caps under the battens.
As I look at it I see the battens are off the membrane, which is a good thing, but looks a bit flimsy. Are there any battens with small grooves on their underside maybe?
