I recently completed a bathroom refurb and for the tiling I used a pale buff Mapei grout.
The grout absorbs water and so for the 6 hours or so that it takes to fully dry after showering the grout lines in the wet area look unsightly. Even to the extent that about a month after finishing the job when I proudly showed the finished job to a family member they expressed surprise at how quickly the grout had become dirty.
One option would be to rake the grout joints out and use a different grout colour but that would be a big job involving removing the sanitary ware and towel rad.
Before resorting to that I may try a grout sealer but I wonder firstly how effective they are and secondly whether the grout sealer itself will result in a permanent colour change to the grout meaning that the whole bathroom will need to be treated, not just the wet area?
Thanks
