Grrrrrrrrrrrrr I was issued with a PCN this evening!

I parked on a single yellow line after 2030 hrs!

I have always understoon a single line means " for no more than normal business hours? usually 0830-1830 ???

Furthermore the Observed time was 2039-2039 hrs. Is that really valid ???

Does anyone have professional information?

single yellow means dont park there during the hours noted on the boards either end if the line.

in London you can get a ticket up to 22:00, as nickso said, depends on what time is indicated on the plate at / near the lines

That could be grounds to contest as it shows that you were given no time to return to your vehicle after unloading.

Unfortunately the highway code is not the law.

You really need to go back & take photo's of the lines, the ends (terminations) of the line, the plates & scan your PCN in, remove all personal info (reg no) and post a copy of this using the wizard at the fightback forums at http://pepipoo.com/ as they will be able to help you out real well.

Now you would think someone who constantly tells us how hard parking is in london and what a bother the congestion charge is would know the absolute basics and check the sign.

on a single line and a double they cannot issue an instant ticket unless there is also loading restrictions in force, these loading times are on the white plates rather than the yellow plates.
For a car observation is 10 mins, commercial is 20 mins
The single yellow means restrictions are in force Some time during the day or night.
The meanings changed a few years ago
Double yellow means 24 hour.

the kerb lines relate to the loading restrictions, but in all cases the time plate is the main thing.

On the pcn it will mention IF loading restrictions WERE in force, if not return to the scene, check the plate.
The pcn only alleges the offence and the ceo's do get it wrong.
I have got off many like that due to no observation, but it depends what the sign says.
