Evening, querry is this.Currently have upstairs bathroom and Im adding new shower room with drench head and body jets downstairs and the old combi just wont be up to the job (halstead finest gold) so intend to fit new Aurostore cylinder and system boiler with possabilty of adding solar later(all of which is going in the garage which is behind the new room) however current pressure is just over 1 bar and flow of about 15litres per minute.

I wish to increase both pressure and flow so have 2 options eiher install new 32mm MDPE water supply but that will involve have it moled in due to prescrete drive or

Install the grundfoss home booster.

Have you guys any experience fitting, repairing or serving these, and are they up to the job.

I presume then folks that no one has come acroos these.

I thought Simond might have what with his love for accumulators.

"""so intend to fit new Aurostore cylinder and system boiler"""

If you are fitting an unvented cylinder you need the relevant Certificate and obviously need to be CORGI registered for a gas boiler.

Can you give the type number of the Grunfoss pump you want to use?

If you are specifying the system I would expect that you are a member of the IPHE Consulting Group.

I am a RGI with G3 ,also a STA member and an approved Vaillant solar installer, so not too concerned about the cylinder and boiler.(and its in my own home)

Im more worried about the cost of moleing my new water main hence the questions about the grudfos.

The grundfos part is called the home booster (CHI 2 -60). is about the size of a washing machine, holds 200 litres and has an adjustable pressure range

They've been around for a while, some times seen in small comercial situations and rarely in domestic so i've been led to believe.

Wondered if anyone here has experience of them.

That Grunfoss is just a 200 li ( potable? ) holding tank with a pressure pump to supply the property.

I would expect it costs more than a mole job so I would suggest the 32 mm new supply is the better option as it has no maintenance and the pipe should outlive you. You will also need the Water Regs qualification and to be registered as an ACP with the water supplier.

In NW London they seem to charge about £400-£600 if its about 5-10 m front garden with earth instead of concrete.

unfortunately the whole dig will have to be carried out by Severn and trent as the exising boundary meter and connection point are on the public highway with no point on my property to dig without lifting the highway or the patterned concrete drive.

I know a guy that could mole it if i could pemission tho lift the highway but he still wants £1000 for that , then theres the highways section costs of around £300 which involves alot of red tape including 28 days notice of dig, connection, re-inspection and re-instatement of highway within 7 days plus insurance to cover any work on the highway for a period of 6 months after completion.
Total mole will be about 15metres.

If i could have trenched it i would as i am water regs qualified so would only have needed final connection.

Which is why the grundfos might become an option. however if i need to go the ST way i will but like to keep my options open.

cor agile you can half be a pompous old wotsit at times, chill out a tad you will live longer ;)

I have used grunfoss pumps on a couple of combi's that were fitted by numpty nuts installers where a combi had no business in being, I love em one of them is now three years old and not a peep of hassle

that said whats the betting that I get an early call on the morrow.

lcgs you cannae whack a grunfos IMO

You could use a Grundfos 15-90 running into an accumulator, ask GAH for details. This boosts the standing pressure into the accumulator by about 1 bar, and is a recommended solution where the SP is on the low side.

Alternatively, you could wait until next month when they launch a Thames Water approved one box pump/accumulator solution - again ask GAH for the details.

He doesn't have to be Corgi registered at all. You have been told on many occassions to stop spouting that tripe and promoting a self interest group.

Fit an accumulator. You can make one up cheaply. Then use a heat bank, you can also make one up cheaply too. You have the skills to do this.

I can tell you how to do it.
