Hi, Just moved into apt, has a sorta mini boiler which goes to a grundfos ups-15 45x18 pump. the mini boiler gets mad hot but there is no action out of the grundfos pump well its plugged in and nothing??
Is there any fix or do i have to replace grundfos, how long do these things last? how long should you ecpect to get out of these yokes?? Is servicing an option??
it could just be stuck or the system might be sludged up that will cause the pump to fail to test it turn off the valves each side undo the large chrome screw get a smaller flat head fscrewdriver and try spinning it see if it turns ok if it does quickly turn on mains with the screw out and see if its turning if it is turn off the mains replace the screw and open the valves
If the shaft is spinning don't assume the impeller is still attached inside at the other end!
If you need to investigate this further isolate the pump and remove the head.
A pump can last anything between 2 and 30 years depending on how much use it gets, the maintenance the sytem has had and the quality of the installation. I would guess that 6 - 12 years is the norm
