Gas fire installation booked in this afternoon.

Poor customer was upset when we refused to install fire due to uncomplete work on builders opening and incorrect flue terminal.
She then told us how much she paid for boiler change!

Sub contracting heating installer started Monday morning had left about 11.00. on Wednesday.

His installation was as follows

Remove back boiler and cylinder. F&E and header tank left in attic (hatch to narrow he said)

Extend pipes from cylinder cupboard approximately 3 meters to new boiler location

Hang WB 24i greenstar boiler, bash hole in wall and fit standard flue
Drill holes for PRV pipe and condensate, connect condensate to external soil stack.
Fit Magnaclean and only chemical flush old system (6 Single rads)

MT10RF mechanical RF thermostat and fused spur instead of immersion switch.

There was no complcated pipe routes, carpets had been lifted and floorboards had been screwed down. Exterior wall was breeze block/brick cavity.

So anyone want to guess a fair price for the above work?

If i was to do it supply and fit i'd say about £3500.
If British Gas were to do it i'd say £6000

Tell me, need to know if i'm to cheap or to expensive

Supply and fit
Alpha combi with premier pack for 5 year garuntee, £1200+ vat

Labour only fit supplied boiler, £500

just for labour i would say £750, boiler and fittings would come in at about £950 with vat so if i was a plumber an all in fixed price cost would be about £2k maybe £2250 to cover for any x-factor turning up.
