My boyfriend lives in a very old (150-200yrs) end of terrace church house which is quite beautiful but he is useless at DIY and it has been rotting for the past 5+ years! Damp, surprisingly, is a big problem which must be coming from guttering or lack of! There is no guttering along gable end of house, he says its a special inline guttering system haha, is he right and if so is this where problems are coming from? x

He could be right! It may be a wallhead gutter which would be lined in lead.
