We had a powercut last year and since then the timed option for water and heating doesnt work,
we can only manually turn on the heating by selecting the "on" mode and then using the water select button through the options to on- then the boiler only kicks in when the water is turned off! confused. yes! this works in reverse with the water turned to on, and then select through the heating options to off again.
the advance buttons no longer work or the once, or timed! (british gas timer on wall)
to add more complications this method of turning it on now only works with the heating option so we have no hot water anymore. this new development happened when again there was another local powercut!
The boiler works fine when we turn the heating on, and the pump works fine all the rads are hot, didnt know if it was an issue with the honeywell 3 way valve.
the boiler is a potterton.

any advice would be greatly received.
thanks :?

Not sure what timer you have as BG rebrand other peoples stuff but there should be a reset button usually a tiny hole that you insert a pin into to reset , you will have to programme from scratch though if it does reset

getting quite good at the programing so no problem ther I will look for the reset, thanks for the advise :D

You could try turning the power off/ or unplug the power to the Timer for an hour or so, this quite often clears up Electrical Surge problems, instead of reset.

If you post a photo of the programmer, I expect someone will recognise it, then you can look up the instructions online. I have seen various Drayton/ACL programmers rebadged as BG.

Failing a photo, the model number on the front will help.

Thanks to all for the info, just found out a friends neighbour is a boiler man! he is gonna have a look for me. :P no more help needed.
this site is well cool though will use in future.

A nice new digital programmer is only about £40 and can usually just be fitted to the existing backplate in ten minutes!
