I have moved into a house which has a light in the hallway. There are 2 swiches one downstairs, one upstairs.
They both have to be 'on' to get the light on.
I want to have it switched on for the evening, then when I go to bed I want to switch it off upstairs, then when I come in from work the next evening I want to switch it on again downstairs.
Instead I have to walk upstairs in the dark and turn that one on too to get the light on. pointless.
Is this a common request, is there a type of switch that will give me the power to turn it on and off alternately.
Thanks

its wired wrong or wrong switches.

tkae both switches off (dont dissconect them) and tell us what you see or better still take a pic

sound much like a broken or missing strapper...

can you switch it on or off from upstairs if the downstairs switch is off?
