need help please. have 3 halogen spot lights in my entrance porch.came home last week and found one of them not working.thought it was the lamp but it wasn\\\'t as the lamp works fine in the other sockets.these are 50w lamps. the other two still works fine .what could the problem be.many thanks. :(

Are these 12v or 240v lamps?
If 12v do they have individual transformers?

If individual transformers then it may be that, otherwise look for loose or bad connections. Especially the lampholder itself.

thanks for the reply.they are on individual transformers so i will guess they are 12 volts. to be honest i am not sure whether they are 240v or 12v. i will go and check though. i pulled it out yesterday and it has a small black box which i presume is the transformer.

probably not.. the small black box tends to be the connector block box.

transformers are usually white and about 30 x 50 x 150mm ish...

Or black, grey, blue, purple, green, red, or orange.

They could be square, oblong, tubular, or oval.

They may be large, small, thick or thin.

And finally, their weight may vary from a few grammes to well over a kilo.
