Halogen lights

Evening all,

Hopefully a quick question for you all.

IN my bedroom, i have a simple bulb connected to a 2 core wire (Brown and blue) hanging from my ceiling.

I was given a 3 bulb halogen fitting, which has a terminal block inside, but the colours are as follows,

The first connector has 2 white wires coming from it
2nd connector on the block has an earth
3rd connector 3 blacks.

I assume the black is where i wire in the live from the ceiling, and the white is where i wire the neutral from the ceiling. Earth wont be used i assume.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

if it has an earth terminal then it must be earthed. onle class II fittings do not require an earth connection to them.

Those colours make me think it may be for USA? They only use 110v so I would be wary. Try some pictures.

thanks guys, here some more info from the sticker inside

Ring Lighting, Leeds, England, Model No. 51319, 240v -50hz, 2xMAX.50W GU10, then it has a CE mark, then an upside down triangle with an F in it, and another wierd symbol which looks like a semi circle, with 3 dashes coming from the left then 0.5m then a vertical line with wee branches coming off it.

ignore my first post,

Under the rose, i have 3 wires, a earth, a black and a red.

SO would i be right in wiring red to live, the black to the whites, and earth to earth.

So it doesnt have a picture of two concentric squares? Then it must be earthed.

Sounds like you only have live, neutral and earth in the ceiling rose - dead easy.

Though beats me why you want to replace a 60w lamp with a 150w one.
