Guys,

I have a Halstead Finest combi boiler ( god knows how they came up with that name )

CH is OK, no problems
but DHW fails - switch on tap , banging noise in the boiler , boiler cuts out after a few seconds - water runs cold ...

So, is this the DHW ( plate ) heat exchanger or the main heat exchanger ?

Thnaks in advance for all replies......

It sounds likely.

Cleaning a system is not required with a cheap boiler because they are only expected to work until the cheque has cleared.

but which one - DHW heat exchanger or main heat Exchanger ?

If it turns out to be neither - where next ?

Plate HE.

With boiler repairs as with amputations, you do things one at a time !

Surgery will commence this week , I'll let you know if the plate HE resolves problem

Thanks for the info .....

Practically every combi has a plate heat exchanger, so it's not really fair to blame the boiler. They all block about the same, and the Finest one is a 15 minute job unlike some...

...indeed they do, and the problems are usually when a new combi is fitted to a dirty old heating system.

Boilers don't get full of muck by themselves.
