I am making and fitting some contiboard shelves into an alcove. :( I know the trick of taping the line I have marked to saw to avoid splinters on the top edge of the contiboard but unfortunately taping the underneath does not have the same effect. The board splinters and looks unsightly. It's ok if the underneath is not in view but what if it is? Any tips please

Mark the contiboard with the stanley knife blade 2/3 times underneath (and top if you want )which will avoid splinters when cutting. Its not easy using handsaw unless you're experience.Best to use a jig-saw with fine tooth and cut it slowly for neat cut,if you cut it faster it will cut unsightly. :)
