Hi!

I'm trying to work out the best way to attach this old hatrack to the wall.

The mounting holes are only on one side (they don't go all the way through the tube).

Holes are 6mm wide and 18mm high.

For the life of me I can't figure out how best to do this securely. Surely basic nails or screws aren't going to grip it tightly enough.

Thanks for any advice.

Must have been hooked on at some point, I'd imagine......maybe if you drill right through you'd be able to get a screwdriver in (if that's acceptable).

What size is the hole? If it's not too big, that is if it's smaller than the head of a round head screw, you could file, or probably easier grind with a Dremel or similar, a bigger hole at the lower end to allow the screw head to go through, and then the tube to slide down so that the sides of the slot hold on the head of the screw. In other words turn it into a"keyhole" slot.

Sharp blow with a hammer on a flat headed screwdriver with widen the slot to accept hook if too wide.
