Toyota landcruiser. Heating not working engine getting hot. Water pump?

Stuck or disconnected heater water valve or flaps,
or possibly an airlock in the system.
Is the engine overheating?

Yes the temp gauge goes skyward. heating not working,

are both water pipes from the radiator getting hot or is one staying cold and one hot. check the pipes going to the heater matrix.
