I've stripped off all the old lime plaster back to brick from an outside facing wall for a bathroom renovation. I want to use hardibacker straight up against the brick to prepare for the limestone tiles up to ceiling.
How should i prepare the exisitng brick surface and what adhesive should i use to stick the Hardibacker to the brick ? I shall also be using mechanical fixings in addition to the adhesive.

Thanks and Regards

is the wall insulated??

if not, you need to insulate it, you can do the insulatedback plasterboards

No, the wall is solid brick all the way to the outside, it's an old house - pre cavity wall.
So what is the best method of insulation ? Are you saying stick insulated plasterboard to wall instead of Hardibacker ? Would that take the weight of 10mm limestone tiles ?

Thanks and Regards

In that case i would first batton it out, (vapour barier first, and then insulation -kingspan, then marmox or hardibacker
