You could try connecting the disk to another computer and using a tool like "Get Data Back" to scan the disk. This utility can retrieve deleted files and files from corrupted disks.

Let me just give you a quick tip, do not unplug usb sticks or HDD from a computer, make sure you remove it by removing it safe, via the pc, bottom right, right click, eject usb...
Anyway, this is a simple fix and it can be done, download any live linux cd's, put it into your pc, boot from cd, insert the USB and in Linux it should pop up, since linux wipes the floor with windows i don't see any problem getting your info back, worked many times as people come to me to fix their problems on their computers.
