I am looking to fit a flange to my hot water cylinder (Range UltraCal 3) in order to run a pumped thermostatic mixer shower from it. I did a bit of research and found the technical specs for my cylinder at:

http://www.range-cylinders.co.uk/products/ultracal/

After a bit of head scratching I decided that although the hot water supply/vent connector was a 22mm compression fitting, this was installed into the cylinder via a 1" Female screwed connection. On this basis I bought a Salamander S Flange 22mm from Screwfix:

http://www.salamanderpumps.co.uk/Products/Sflange.htm

Having received the flange and done some further investigation, i.e. removed some of the lagging from around the 22mm compression fitting, it seems this fitting is an integral part of the cylinder. How have I misinterpreted the technical specs? Am I missing something REALLY obvious?

Is there any way of fitting a 1" flange into a 22mm hole, short of using a hammer, or do I need to return my purchase and get something different? Any recommendations?

Many thanks in advance,

Ben Edwards

You'll need to return it, the boss is brazed into the cylinder.

Many thanks for the replies. Took the flange back today and got a refund. Going with LeakyDave's option as it seems the least expensive and most hassle free. I looked into an Essex flange but have decided to only use one as a last resort.
