If your Tv is HD ready or Full HD. Then you will notice great improvements over standard tv.

A full HD TV gives you.
1920×1080, or 2,073,600 pixels or 1080 vertical lines to fill with picture.

HD ready gives you.
1280x720, or 921,600 pixels or 720 vertical lines or 1080 interlaced lines.

Standard TV is about 720X576

If you want to fill your available pixles with info rather than just stretch a low quality signal to fit your screen. BLU RAY is Full HD and SKY broadcast in 1080i which is perfect for HD ready TV's.

also before pixels put potential as most screens produced will not have all pixels available due to manufacturing limitations and quality control leeway.

Roll on Super HD which is about 5000 x something or other, the Nips have it in development, may need some new MPEG algorithms though!
