as windows runs in dvi. does it switch to hdmi when i play films ect???

Mine will work but if i set the resolution as the TV manual suggests, parts of the picture are missing. I have a full 1080 set, but at 1080 from the PC is misses bits of the picture. :( And the software that came with the HD DVD player in my PC is bloody awful.

Just one point: if you plan to use your PC for playing Blu-ray/HD-DVD, note that PC HDMI ports don't send high-definition audio, only DVD-quality.

ASUS make a soundcard that DOES do proper high-def audio, reviews seem to be quite good and IIRC it was around the £100 mark.

Of course, DVD audio is still excellent so it all depends on whether or not you're bothered by it! It's worth noting that the Playstation3 has the same limitation on audio and that doesn't seem to bother most people.

I have both my PC and a laptop plugged into HDMI, the laptop is a sound and video interface, but for my PC I bought a DVI to HDMI and use the optical line out for sound.

For Video however, the HDMI device just identifies it's self as another monitor, so I can change resolution, refresh rates, bit depths etc etc as I please. It (the nVidia driver) also allows you to select either screen as primary, both screens cloned or extended desktop.

for watching 1080p media, nothing beats this set-up. I do have all less than 1year old hardware and don't use any 'essential' software junk, I like a very clean PC so do all my video adjusting with nothing more than the nVidia drivers.
