Years ago Hep2o had stainless inserts, then few years ago black plastic, and now barbed ss inserts. I have a mix kicking about. If sticking with Hep, can I use any of them? Thanks

All about size, no reason not to use them up. The older non barbed and plastic ones usually stay in the fitting if demounted, hence the new barbed inserts. Even then though the new ones still end up left in the fitting sometimes.
