Every time we have a hot day we struggle to unlock / lock the front door, sometimes the key doesnt turn and sometimes the handle doesnt move down.

The upvc door is fitted to a porch and it has a small window, we leave this window open to try and vent / cool the porch down but today the wife had to knock on neighbours door to get in through the back.

Is there anyway I can stop this happening?

It's possible that if the glazing wasn't installed correctly the door could be out of square. However, if it's been all right up till now, it may be that the hinges need adjusting.

Find the adjusters, which may be hidden under removable plastic plugs, and check how the door moves when you turn them: they may use internal hex screws. Check the effect of turning them clockwise and anticlockwise, and adjust so that the door sits square in the frame and the latches line up correctly with catch plates.
