Hi, my heated towel has developed a small leak, I have attached a photo, it seems to be leaking from the large nut . Can I just tighten this or will I need to listen and put the white tape in? If I do listen how do I stop water flooding my bathroom? Any help really appreciated, I’m hoping to solve this without having to call a plumber out. Thank you.

That looks like it just needs tightening, be sure to hold the valve body so that it doesn't turn whilst tightening the nut.

Thank you, just tighten the large horizontal nut? Shall I use an adjustable spanner? Out of interest if I close the brass valve below/front all the way to the left which stops the towel rail heating up would this stop water going into the rail allowing me to listen the nut and add the white tape then tighten?

Yes, big nut.
You will need to close both valves to stop water going into towel rail, but it will still be full of water.
Those valve/ unions don't seal on the threads so PTFE tape is not necessary. If it still leaks then a smear of jointing compound on the mating surfaces will do the trick.

Thank you , I’ll give it a go, down to Screwfix to get an adjustable wrench and jointing compound. I’ll keep you posted . Fingers crossed.

I’m just in b and q is jointing compound the same as boss white joint compound or boss green jointing compound please
