Heating/hot water problem help required..

You know, I think I've sussed the problem. I wasn't accurate enough in my first post here because I hadn't capped off the hot and cold water taps, only the hot ones and have capped the cold water supply going into the bathroom. This must be the feed into the F&E tank which explains why it isn't filling up.

I thought (probably incorrectly) that the hot water was seperate from the F&E though? This is what it seemed like last night when the radiators came on but there was no water coming out of the hot water taps. Knowing this house, the F&E tank and all that stuff has probably been disconnected and I'm barking up the wrong tree altogether!

connect the cold feed back up then and you'll should get somewhere.

sounds like the hot is gravity and the cold is mains feed in the bathroom.

Well, a little knowledge is very dangerous as they say!

Everything should be running smoothly again tomorrow, but I can't leave water on at the mo because the copper push fit stop-ends I got from B&Q can't handle the water pressure from the main.
