I have two heating channels but only one zone valve, thus I get back feed on one channel but not the other. I am not fitting a new zone valve just to get a micro switch/ relay, so is there another way to stop back feed on this circuit?
Not really enough information. I will guess you have something like this.
Where the thermostat controls the valve then the valve controls the central heating boiler.
There are so many variations on this idea and in the main the thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) has rendered this system redundant. Even the TRV has now changed with WiFi heads telling a central computer what is required even connected to the alarm system to reduce temperature when out of house and phone so you can increase temperature before return.
With my house the thermostat has a built in timer so the room alterers temperature according to time of day. Before the WiFi TRV came out moving to TRV resulted in rooms having a single temperature the wall mounted thermostat became a thing of the past.
But with WiFi TRV we are back to being able to program temperatures of each room according to time of day so bedrooms are only heated at night and living rooms only during the day until either reach a lower limit.
Boilers of 20 years ago set the temperature of out going water but today it's the return water temperature which is all important and instead of the boiler switching off and on it has a variable output controlled by return water temperature.
Some of yesterdays systems have become redundant as a result the Myson radiator had build in thermostat and a fan it was very small for the heat output but it required a through flow of water so does not work with today's boilers.
So try and explain what you want and what you have as there are so many systems now available.
