Heatmiser underfloor heating system coming on when it shouldn't

I've got a wet underfloor heating system that uses a Heatmiser UH8-RF Wiring Centre. There's 3 zones each with a wireless thermostat. I also have the Heatmiser NeoHub so I can control the system via the Heatmiser app. On the whole, things work well but on several occassions, I've felt the floor feel warm even though the trigger temperature threshold was far lower than the current temperature. It doesn't happen a lot but today I really noticed it, it's a very hot day and the inside temperatures were over 21 degrees (according to the thermostat). The temperature was set to 17 degrees from the morning until early evening but the entire duration the actual temperature was well over this. I noticed that the light on the Wiring Centre indicated that the zone was calling for heat. The thermostat did not have the flame icon which is usually shown when it calls for heat.

Looking at the heating history from within the mobile app also shows that no calling for heat occurred. So, for unknown reasons, a zone is being heated despite there being no call for heat.

Is there any reason why this would happen? It's extremely annoying to have the heating come on, on such a warm day not to mention it being a huge waste of energy. Would really like to get to the bottom of this but any suggestions as to what is wrong would be really useful.

Heatmiser RF controllers can be a bit fickle sometimes- the NeoAir's can lose connection when the batteries need changed or something interferes with the signal and then the controller defaults that zone to on.

Try overriding the stat on Zone2 to on and then off again. If that doesn't work then power cycle the controller.

Batteries are good as I changed them recently, I never let them run out. I know they default to on when the battery has run out (which is super annoying). I didn't realise they default to on when they lose signal. Is there a way to change the default to be off?

Wish I had gone with the wired stats if that is the case. Wonder if it can be changed in retrospect?

Not that I've found nor that HM Tech was able to tell me. The other annoying habit is no BST auto change and no ability just to move the hour +/- 1 hr.

No - the UH8 RF cannot take hardwired stats, would need to change the controller.

It sounds like the stats temporarily losing signal and the wiring centre defaulting to heat is the most likely reason. This would explain why it doesn't happen often and why the app doesn't register it has being heated (because nothing was calling for heat). Super annoying.

Wish there was a way for the app to indicate that it's lost signal to the stat so I can manually intervene.

I don't recall ever changing for daylight savings, wondering if my heating system has been off by 1 hour for half the year and I never noticed :(

If you are using the NeoAir stats then no they don't auto change for DST. It would be the right time for at least half the year tho ;)

I have the Heatmiser neoAir v2 so I don't know if that makes a difference but I can't see any option to edit DST on the stat. If I hold down the tick button when the cursor is over the power on/off icon then I get a menu of Setup and Clock. If I go to Clock then I can set the year, month and date but that's it. And the Setup menu I think changes the channel the stat is on with the wiring centre.

I have the same and have fitted the same to a number of other systems. Unfortunately I confirm it doesn't have Auto DST, so they have to be manually shifted when the clocks change.

Got it, thought you meant there was a setting for DST on/off. That's annoying to have to change the clock. Is that the same situation for the wired versions of the stat?

Just to add to this - I have lots of wired neostat v2 in my house and the DST setting works automatically for me. I don't know if it's the stats themselves that adjust the time or the NeoHub that they connect to that does it.

I'd assume it's the hub that does the clever bit as it's connected to the internet but i could be wrong.

I'm wondering the same. I can't seem to see any documentation for this but when I asked ChatGPT it said that DST does automatically adjust when you have it connected to the NeoHub (which I do). All my stats are showing the correct time for BST (British summer time). I guess I'll find out when leave daylight savings to see if they actually auto update.
